It’s funny how people as a whole almost “cheer up” as the holidays approach. This of course is my personal opinion, it’s possible I live in a dream world and you all hate the holidays and celebrate them for my amusement.
Either way I begin with Halloween. Or All-Hallowmas, Feralia, Samhain (pronounced sow-in), etc. An interesting and controversal holiday, Halloween is considered by many up until age 11 the 2nd best holiday, Christmas of course would be the first.

Oh how I remember the candy, haunted houses, and costumes. I was usually dressed as my current favorite cartoon or action character, and I was undeniably amazing in every role.
Enough about my past. Let’s go into the history of Halloween.
(Halloween’s origins date back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain)
Wait, Celts? How did it get to America?
(As with almost anything in our heritage, European Immigrants!)
Ok, so why do I have a pumpkin with a witch carved into it on my porch?
(How far have we come with Halloween?)
Interesting information there, now what does Halloween do for, say retail sales & or marketing?
(Funny you ask.)

What else, oh! Top 10 Costumes for 2009!

And I leave you with a quote I found hilarious.
“The Hallowe’en Witch
Each year they parade her about … the traditional Halloween witch.
Misshapen green face, stringy scraps of hair, and a toothless mouth beneath her disfigured nose. Gnarled, knobby fingers twisted into a claw, protracting from a bent and twisted torso that lurches about on wobbly legs.
Most think this abject image to be the creation of a prejudiced mind, or merely a Hallowe’en caricature.
I disagree. I believe this is to be how witches were really seen.
Consider that most witches: were women, were abducted in the night, and smuggled into dungeons or prisons under the secrecy of darkness, to be presented by the light of day as a confessed witch.
Few, if any, saw a frightened, normal looking woman being dragged into a secret room filled with instruments of torture. To be questioned until she confessed to anything that was suggested to her, and to give names or whatever would stop the questions. Crowds only saw the aberration denounced to the world as a self-proclaimed witch.
As the witch was paraded through the town, en route to be burned, hanged, drowned, stoned, or disposed of in various other forms of “Christian Love” … all created to free and save her soul from her depraved body. The jeering crowds viewed the results of hours of torture. The face, bruised and broken by countless blows, bore a hue of sickly green. The once warm and loving smile gone. Replaced by a grimace of broken teeth and torn gums that leers beneath a battered, disfigured nose. The dishevelled hair conceals bleeding gaps of torn scalp from whence cruel hands had torn away the lovely tresses. Broken, twisted hands clutched the wagon for support. Fractured fingers locked like groping claws to steady her broken body. All semblance of humanity gone. This now was truly a demon, a supplied bride of Satan, a proclaimed witch.
I revere this Halloween crone and hold her sacred above all. I honor her courage and listen to her warnings of the dark side of humanity.
Each year I shed tears of respect for her sufferings.

As you all know I do enjoy playing my Xbox 360. I just completed a 4 hour binge playing Madden 2010 by EA Sports. The least I can do is write a post about it.
So let’s start with what’s new. For me, the graphics are much better. Faces are considerably more recognizable than in the previous versions, and not as blocky. EA Sports has stepped it up as far as realism, along with player contact and player response.

Madden 2010 to me is a Football Simulation Game. And I love it.
Check out this link for more details about the latest features in Madden 2010.
My experience with Madden 2010 was fun and familiar (or so I thought), as I am familiar with the series of games, and of course jumped in on Xbox Live, choose quick match, poof, I’m the Buccaneers!
I lost horribly, 7 – 81ish… but I got some achievements!
Then I realized, this is a whole new game. Precision is key, audible(s) are essential, the new right stick features are AMAZING, and I didn’t know what to do with any of it.
So I took a few tutorials that came with Madden 2010, and realized, man, I have the internet, what am I doing?!

Google here I come. I came up with these sites, in which I read thoroughly, and happy to let you know I am 1-3 Ranked as of tonight. If you enjoy Madden 2010, you need to check out these articles.

Many of these tips are collected through various places,
Wired Magazine , Google Search, etc.
I will try to link back as much as I can.

Using Twitter can be a powerful Marketing Tool.
Allowing followers(clients) to feel as though they are with you every step of the day. Allowing them access to a small part of your business or lifestyle per say. Twitter also allows you access to additional visibility online, depending on your content(quality) and amount of tweets.
First, I’ll start off with a few quotes from Wired Magazine that really caught my eye.
“If you want more people to follow you on Twitter, give your real name on your account profile. Not everyone knows you by your username.”
- Scott Beale
“Every single Twitter post you write should be able to get you laid, ruin a relationship, or bring a tear to a blind man’s eye. “
- Joshua Allen
“Don’t answer, ‘What are you doing?’ Be funny. Be brief, leave your lunch unpublished. Ditto your late plane, incomplete sentences.”
- Jason Kottke
“Twitter is a community. It’s not all about you. Engage your peers by asking them questions. You don’t have to actually read the answers.”
- Micki Krimmel
“Frequently linking to yourself from Twitter is a terrific way to highlight your skills as an unlovable marketing knob. Go easy on the spam.”
- Merlin Mann
“Don’t try to impress-just be yourself. But go a little beyond your comfort zone; share something you’re hesitant about sharing.”
- Evan Williams

Don’t forget tonight is the beginning of the Cooter Idol Contest, in celebration of Cooter Fest 2009. That’s right, I live here.
Let’s go back a year or so, and remember this article from Comedy Central, to keep things even.
Ed Helms – “Some people think it’s a vagina.”
Frank DiGiovanni – “We don’t look at it that way, we know it to be a turtle, and that’s what we are celebrating, and only those of vulgar mindset would think otherwise.”
But I believe that there were “Got Cooter?,” “Show Me Your Cooter” and “Save a turtle eat a Cooter!” shirts available for purchase at the events and Cooter Park. I do not have one of these shirts for proof, if anyone does, please send me a photo.
Thanks, off too work!

I first found about him via a BBC blog. He immediately grabbed my attention with his clever lyricism, and pursuit to rap for, well, to rap. And his constant quality performance on the MTV VMA’s 2009 was bananas. Check him out. (Note: To sweeten the deal even more, he hosts his latest Mixtapes to download.)
Props to Wale, I love you’re music.
I cannot wait for Attention Deficit to drop in November.

Definition: Douglife (mononym) n.
(Living or Has Lived)
1. ) Is a self-proclaimed savant, with narcissistic tendencies, who is prone to but not limited to; personal promotion, ground breaking creativity, mind blowing ideas, and devilish charm.
2. ) A Douglife’s main goal is to gain positive attention in the name of all that is the Doug Life.
I have come to realize that it is necessary for me to post a more in depth biography of sorts. Unfortunately it is tough to sum up a person such as myself without creating a lengthy, boring and bounce ridden post. What would be more fitting, is to put what a day is for me, in a 24 hour format.
How I allocate my time:
Sleeping – 6
Blogging – 3
Working – 6
Twittering – 1
Gaming – 3
Commuting – 1
Eating – 2
Reading blogs – 2
I somehow manage to fit in time to shop for clothing, grab new music, and occasionally see a woman.
On a side note I must say I am excited for the future. The Eco-friendly lifestyles, circulating fashion & trends, ahh, and I can smell fall. It’s 56 degrees out, with my windows open, and my Purple Cow Audio Book, I bid you goodnight!
